CREATING AND EDITING ARE SEPARATE PHASES OF THE PROCESS

Creating and editing are very different from each other, but BOTH are necessary to being professional. For best results, learn to keep them SEPARATE in your mind.

In other words, treat them like different roles. Like different hats you wear at different times.

If you are too critical or editorial while you are in the creating phase, it will slow you down to the point of being crippling.

CREATING IS PURE

• Have fun when creating.
• Create for the joy of creating.
• Think of your own pleasure or therapy when creating.
• Trust your instincts

EDITING IS NECESSARY

• When editing, be ruthless.
• When editing, think of what will/won't entertain or help the audience, the market, the client.
• Keep a copy for yourself, and make copies for public consumption that focus on providing clarity to the audience
